New Guidelines: Lower the Salt Shaker

Use True Citrus instead of saltWhat’s up with the news lately?  First that study about diet soda leading to heart disease came out, and now we hear that we should be using a whole lot less salt.

The Agriculture and Health and Human Services Department panel that’s behind the food pyramid and other nutrition programs says that daily sodium intake should be reduced from 2,300 mg to 1,500 mg per day for good health.

This lower salt limit is the same as the Institute of Medicine’s recommendation, which said earlier this year that people need just 1,500 mg daily, and even less if they're over 50.

That would be a big change for most folks, since most adults today consume around twice the old daily limit of 2,300 mg.

Too much salt?  What can we say, except “True Citrus to the rescue!”  Your salt-loving taste buds can be tamed by generous splashes of tart, fresh lemon, orange or lime as seasoning on everything from meats to salads, to popcorn, and beyond!  Here’s what True Lemon users tell us about using less salt:

“I use True Lemon and True Lime to compliment my tea. And also as my main seasonings. They enhance my meats to the point that I don't need seasoning salt anymore. This is a new kind of seasoning that helps people like me who suffer from high blood pressure.” Donna Howard

"I had high blood pressure which the doctor said I could get down through diet and exercise. I am a member of Curves gym and I read your letter and took a few samples. Well after three weeks of diet, exercise and drinking True Lemon water my blood pressure has lowered 15 points and I have lost weight. I find after my coffee in the morning I am ready for my lemon water which I drink all day long. I am so pleased with the True Lemon® and can't thank you enough for it." Gail C., Cooper City, FL

"I love popcorn but I always had to have it loaded with salt. I tried True Lemon on it and it was great! I don't think I will ever eat popcorn with salt again." Dawn Hyvonen, White Lake, MI

"My favorite way to use either of the two products is to sprinkle them on wedges of Granny Smith apples. It makes a great addition to a low-cal snack, and with the snappy taste of citrus, who needs salt?" Norma, TX
